selling a designer’s collection… for dummies

excerpt from “le jour d’avant”, a fantastic documentary directed by loïc prigent for arte.
///
see how the two super hot designers from proenza schouler are selling their collection to their financial partners.
///
“it’s super wearable”.
///
an interesting case of precarious new selling methods. so true. (sadly)

new investment theories

i guess you’ve heard about this recession trend, born in 2009, booming in 2010.
///
forget about investing in real estate and / or financial markets.
///
the new idea is to invest in fashion. yep. but not in those high street jumpers you loved at top shop. not in those sequin dresses you spotted for nye at asos.
///
no no no.
///
you have to buy “investment pieces”. means high quality classics that will survive trends and won’t lose in value.
///
e.g.: a birkin bag, a burberry trench coat, a tank watch, a 2.55 handbag. better if the price tag is totally extravagant.
///
but really what’s the best investment piece to buy this year? the timeless one, built to last, that will stay trendy ever after… the precarious deluxe bag of course !
///
happy new year.

spotted: precarious coffee break

“a coffee break is a daily social gathering for a snack and short downtime practiced by employees in business and industry” says wiki.
///
it’s important to keep this social routine even if you’re out of job.
///

shoplifting loving criminals

shoplifting-funny-sign
as if the times weren’t hard enough for our beloved retailers, the decrease in sales is now followed by an increase in shoplifting.
///
checkpoint systems published a scary survey. shoplifting rose to extreme levels in the following countries: USA – Japan – UK – Germany – France.
///
basically we learn that the middle class tries to keep up their standards by stealing goods from the stores.
///
ok so seems not everyone has agreed on the new modesty lifestyle… shoplifters you don’t get it ! this recession is a great opportunity for you to stop stealing stuff you don’t need !
